Linden Lab: Program Manager, Platform Engineering

Description
Linden is looking for a driven Program Manager to join their Platform Engineering team. Help create the foundation that Second Life is built upon by leading the success of major initiatives and projects. Qualified candidates will have experience with technical project and program management in a fast-paced, high tech environment. Must also have experience working with large-scale systems (terabytes of data, milliseconds of latency, thousands of transactions per second per host), which includes extensive multi-tasking and complex planning of technical people and equipment resources.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for process, planning and execution throughout project lifecycles.
Identify, monitor, mitigate and communicate potential risks that might affect project quality and /or expectations.
Work closely across various groups to ensure operational readiness and manage the deployment of feature specific environments.
Drive operational requirements, standards, processes and practices. This includes but is not limited to writing functional operational specs for monitoring, manageability, and business continuity as well as new technology investigation/implementation, etc.
Coordinate efforts between disciplines and across organizational boundaries to determine hardware, networking, scalability, infrastructure, manageability, performance, capacity and hosting requirements.
Own communications for all aspects of project delivery with internal customers, other program managers and management.
Identify opportunities for application delivery automation, standardization & process to increase efficiency.
Work closely with internal stakeholders to strategize and communicate project timelines while removing roadblocks for the engineering teams.


Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience managing complex software engineering projects in a high tech and fast paced environment.
Understanding of online services, network architecture, and hardware technologies.
Working knowledge of software engineering, networking protocols, and web application development.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Good negotiation and conflict management skills.
Strong ability to plan, manage, and complete multiple projects concurrently.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree and/or relevant experience.
5+ years of software industry experience, preferably in the consumer internet space.
